Title: Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (Cross-faction)

"Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace."
- General Dwight D. Eisenhower

Story:

The Warmaster had been on the bridge of the frigate since the Highliner had arrived in orbit of Eirdanos. He watched as the one hundred and fifty frigates dispatched by Marquis Eleusis began their undocking procedures to leave the colossul ship that had brought them here. Warmaster Gleason had been to war before, multiple times, but there was always a sense of trepidation when about to embark on a mission that could result in open conflict. The mission was relatively straightforward in and of itself; take control of the Starport on Eirdanos, prevent any ship to leave or land on the planet's surface, and provide suitable encouragement for the rebels to end their campaign against their lords.

Archibald wondered about that last part, whether the loss of the fief to the more stable House Aiantis would be sufficient to end the rebellion against the incompetent Alexin regime, or whether they would be stupid enough to continue rebelling against a Great House. Aside from the quarantine, the immediate goal was to end the rebellion peacefully to prevent any needless loss of life. To this end a diplomatic entourage of House Aiantis had been given special permission to accompany the Eluesinian forces to the surface, however until the quarantine was lifted they could not leave either.

He reached down with his right hand and picked up a handset nestled in the side of the situation table and nodded to the Communications Officer.

"Broadcast across all frequencies Lieutenant." he instructed and then waited for the go ahead. It only took a few seconds as the Lieutenant pressed a few buttons on his panel before giving Archibald a nod to signal he was broadcasting. Archibald took a silent, deep breath before bringing the handset to his mouth.

"Attention all entities of the Imperium. By order of his Imperial Majesty, Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV, Eirdanos is hereby placed under quarantine by the forces of House Eleusis. This quarantine will be immediately put into affect and all transport to and from the planet will cease. All passengers and ships aboard the Highliner may remain or undock as they wish, however all requests for landing will be denied. All passengers and ships waiting to board the Highliner will be refused entry and all requests for lift-off will be denied. Anyone attempting to breach this Imperial quarantine will be forcibly deterred." Announced the Warmaster with a steady and calm voice.

"Please obey all instructions you receive from House Eleusis' forces and there will be no bloodshed, only some delayed travel plans. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated, and will allow for the prompt conclusion of Eleusinian presence." he added before nodding to the Comms Officer to terminate the transmission.

"Have that message broadcast on all primary travel and civilian communication frequencies every three minutes for the next twenty four hours." Archibald instructed before turning to the frigate's Captain.

"Let's get this done by the numbers, Captain."

Summary:
  • House Eleusis deploys the 4th and 5th legions to Eirdanos to impose a planet-wide quarantine.
  • House Eleusis pays 100s in upkeep for the deployed legions.
  • House Eleusis assigns 1 unit of spice to each deployed legion.
  • House Eleusis transports 5 units of drugs and foodstuffs to Eirdanos along with the legions, to be used as instructed.
  • The 4th Legion is instructed to land at the Eirdanos Starport and immediately occupy and introduce a strong defensive perimeter around the Starport and ground all transport attempting to leave the planet.
  • The 4th Legion is also ordered to seize and guard all transport hubs capable of servicing, receiving and launching off-world freighters and transports.
  • House Alexin staff and cargo are not permitted to leave Eirdanos until the quarantine has been lifted.
  • House Alexin staff and cargo are to be classified as likely priority targets for the Rebels and are to be protected within the Eleusinian defensive lines of the 4th Legion, however their movements are to be restricted to prevent any disruption to the quarantine.
  • The 5th Legion is instructed to divide into two and take up defensive positions a short distance from Kratos and Karameikos, and prepare for potential assault.
  • The 5th Legion is instructed to provide food and medical care to the local populace as far as they can manage without compromising their defensive positions or manpower for any potential storming of the cities if requested by House Aiantis' diplomats.
  • The House Aiantis diplomatic team is afforded free movement and protection by Eleusinian forces throughout Eirdanos, but will not allow them to leave the planet while the quarantine is in effect.
  • A warning message is sent to the rebels that whilst House Eleusis' forces are assuming defensive positions to maintain order while House Aiantis' diplomatic team negotiates, any attacks or interference with House Eleusis' missions will result in severe responsive measures.
  • Anyone attempted to breach the quarantine will be warned only twice before use of force is authorised, including deadly force if ultimately required.

Title: Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (Cross-Faction)

Story:

The tea, the young woman reflected, wasn't bad though she couldn't stomach the biscuits. She was quite full from her meal with the Alexian patricians and was more than happy to simply enjoy her thoughts but the brief respite from being on her feet and being forced to interact with others was soon over as the door to warmaster Gleasons office opened.

The guards stiffened, though she noted with admiration that they were far better trained than her own as the change in posture was almost unnoticeable; Clearly her boys weren't as good as she'd once thought. Running a critical eye over the warmaster she noted he was an intimidating man, even though she was supposed to be at least of equal social rank to herself she straightened up and hoped she looked acceptable. His face, the young lady thought, spoke far too much of war and had that haggard look that all soldiers eventually wore and she decided he was a man who could get the job done.

The mans voice dragged her from her appraisal of him and smiled; Though he was slightly condescending and treat her far too much like a child for her liking, everything he said made perfect sense and despite her displeasure at having to come to him she was rather glad he had been sent. At the very least it was not just a Sardukar telling her this, and she resisted the urge to shudder at the thought of the Emperors warriors.

"We have taken steps to ensure security of our atomics however you are quite right to want to get them off the planet", how to ease into this she wondered as she continued, "there is a slight issue however in that the activation codes were changed once Stefan, our mentat, defected."

She glanced at Ludwig, "It had to be done so the opposing force, rebels or whatever you wish to call them, could not use them if they were to fall into their hands anyway", again she glanced at her uncle and went red, "I expect you to change the access codes once they are in the possession of your troops. Anyone could be an enemy agent"

Though Ludwig didn't move his jaw tightened slightly and she felt instantly guilty, "I would also appreciate Eleusian guards until everyone has been properly screened... Say 8 men" She didn't look at Ludwig now that she had committed herself to doubting him and the rest of her people.

Summary:

Agreed the Eleusians should take care of her atomics, details will be handed over regarding their location and such so that Eleusian troops may retrieve them saftely.

Title: Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (Cross-faction)

Story:

The request was odd, but not one he was totally surprised at given the circumstances the young Baroness found herself in. He looked at the pregnant child seated across from him and considered her for a moment. She was scared, and given the recent fortunes of House Alexin, Archibald felt that fear was well placed. Maybe she wasn't as stupid as her father and brother?

"I'll have a security section attached to your personal command, Baroness." replied Archibald as his gaze drifted to Ludwig standing motionless, yet obviously rather annoyed at the loyalty of his troops having just been questioned.

"Now, about the atomics..."

Summary:
  • Warmaster Gleason has detached a security section of 30 soldiers to provide round the clock protection to Baroness Alexin while she remains on Eirdanos.
  • House Eleusis will take control of House Alexin's atomics immediately and transport them to the orbiting Far Traveller for the Spacing Guild to take possession of during the quarantine.
  • No personnel from the ground are permitted aboard the transporting frigate, and 120 soldiers are tasked with providing overwatch protection while the atomics are moved from the Alexin ship to the Eleusinian frigate.

Title: Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (cross-faction)

Story:

"Now, about the atomics..."

Relieved at the Eleusian Warmasters benevolence Zoya felt far happier, and considerably safer. Glancing at Ludwig again, and feeling like a complete traitor, she closed her eyes so that she could recall the ships name but found herself at a complete loss.

"They're aboard the Streyebog"
grunted Ludwig though gritted teeth, the name brought a small smile to Zoyas face. The God of destruction, how appropriate she thought as she thanked her uncle, "The Streyebog" she resumed, "Is docked in bay 3 of the starport I believe, uncle?" she glanced at the man who nodded.

"Good, well the guards I have placed have orders to shoot anyone on site who cannot provide the password which is '13 stairs'. I would advise you send a detachment of your men without informing them and merely provide the password when prompted, then have them contact myself and I shall confirm this; Otherwise if they are compromised they could steal an atomic... Or worse. Naturally you have my permission to shoot on sight anyone who fails to accept the password or if they put up resistence once I have confirmed this", Ludwig grunted at this.

Zoya looked at him pleadingly, surely her uncle knew they must make things as easy for the Eleusians and Sardukar as possible and he seemed to read her expression well because he stirred himself out of his silence "There's 30 of my best men guarding the interior of the transport and another 20 outside guarding the entrance and the way to the entrance. You'll be asked for the password the Baroness gave you at the first entrance to docking bay 3, and asked for an additional password at the transports' entrance which is 'sunflower'... after that there shouldn't be any trouble..."

Zoya glanced at her warmaster at the mention of the second password, eyebrows raised so high they may have been part of her fringe and at this the warmaster muttered "it seemed prudent".

Summary:

Location of the atomics is given
Permission to use deadly force is given (though not exactly needed)
Passwords to get to the atomics transport are given
Number of troops defending the atomics transport is given

Title: RP - Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (cross-faction)

Story:

Rather unexpectedly, since it is well off its normal route, the Spacing Guild heighliner 'Whitethorne's Reach' appeared in high orbit around Eirdanos.

There are now four Spacing Guild Heighliners in orbit around this historically somewhat unimportant world.

Multiple tight-beam, heavily-encoded communication links burst from the heighliner, opening lines of communication to all the involved parties - though the exact content of those various communications are, for the time being anyway, unknown.

Elsewhere, Eric Ducan, Primus Pilus of the First Cohort of the Spacing Guild, reached out to the House Eleusis command ship to offer his and the Spacing Guild's assistance in arranging transport for anything unusual that the warmaster might require handled.

Summary: The Whitethorne's Reach arrives at Eirdanos, potentially affecting the scene.
  • Whitethorne's Reach arrives at Eirdanos and opens lines of communication to a number of the involved factions.
  • The Spacing Guild offers its assistance in arranging transport of 'special cargo' off Eirdanos.

Title:RP - Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (cross-faction)

Story:

Just half an hour after it winked into existence in high orbit above the planet, the newly-arrived Guild Heighliner 'Whitethorne's Reach' winked out again.

Moments later, the 'Daring Gamble' - upon which House Eleusis arrived, also vanished - followed almost immediately thereafter by the heighliner upon which the Imperial Sardaukar legions arrived.

Only the original vessel remains, the one that was sent to handle the evacuation of House Alexin.

"This vessel will remain in orbit around this planet for three days," is broadcast to all parties on and above planet. "If House Alexin, or any portion thereof, remains unable to make its connection, this scheduled transport will be cancelled and this vessel will withdraw to return to its normal assignment, requiring the rearrangement of House Alexin's evacuation schedule."

"This planet now returns to its regular service schedule."

Summary: With only one slight delay (likely offset if the ship doesn't have to jump to a colony world), the guild heighliners dispatched to Eirdanos return to their regular assignments so that imperial trade is not unnecessarily affected by what's going on there.

Type of RP: Conflict (Cross-faction)

GM Ruling:
Approved. This can continue to be written if the players deem it necessary.
Eirdanos has seen considerable activity well beyond anything any Eirdanos local has seen in their lifetime. The arrival of two legions of troops from House Eleusis gave the rebellion pause alone, but the subsequent arrival of the Emperor's Sarduakar and the imposition of a quarantine has frightened the Governors of the rebellion to lower their city shields and cooperate with House Aiantis' diplomatic teams; whilst the seige is considered over, and the Governors have appeared to have accepted the inevitability of Aiantis rule, there are still grumblings of discontent felt across the entire planet.

Packs of youths have reportedly continued to harass anyone who refused to join the rebellion against the Alexin regime, and there are scattered but continual reports of vandalism, firebombing and general disruption of lives by these gangs. The forces of the Governors in rebellion have not been involved in any overt capacity, although rumours of the persistant variety suggest that the Governors' forces are supplying and encouraging such gangs. Such gangs are causing continual security concerns and delaying the evacuation of Alexin loyalists off planet which has still not been wholey completed.

Whilst not embroiled in an open rebellion and siege, Eirdanos is considered to be suffering from civil disorder until the change to Aiantisian control has been completed and the introduction of House Guard forces and the swearing of loyalty by the Governors. The quarantine has been announced as lifted at the conclusion of February to allow for the evacuation of the Alexin elements in the coming months.

Eleusinian Victory
House Eleusis' legions arrive at Eirdanos and successfully impose the quarantine through the securing of the starport and the deployment of troops outside of the cities in rebellion. Through prompt action and the cooperation of House Alexin, the atomics on Eirdanos were removed successfully and placed under the care of the Spacing Guild before the rebels had any chance to identify their location or disrupt the transfer.

Now acting as a police force and protection for the communities at large and securing the Alexin withdrawl, Eleusinian troops have very rarely been targetted by the rebels, but small skirmishes have occured with over eager or fringe elements such as the youth gangs when protecting Alexin assets or supporters. Warmaster Gleason reports that once the Alexin elements have been completely withdrawn from the planet then the frequency of violent attacks will be reduced significantly, although doubts very much that they will be eliminated completely. Eleusinian casualties to date is eight killed in action, seventy three wounded.

House Eleusis gains +3 to its military category pool.
House Eleusis gains +3 to its domestic respect category pool.

Corrino Victory
The Sarduakar arrived on Eirdanos with no incidents; the Eleusinian forces managed to secure and clear the starport in quick order enabling the Emperor's forces to concentrate on their mission of eliminating the Tleilaxu infestation on the world. Whilst the engagement of the Tleilaxu base was a fierce battle in and of itself, the mere fact that the Tleilaxu appeared to only have approximately 180 personnel within the facility; no match for the 60,000 Sarduakar troops currently deployed to Eirdanos. Reports indicate that the Tleilaxu appeared to had only just arrived within the facility over the past couple of months and had not finished setting it up for whatever nefarious schemes they had planned. Sarduakar casualties were sixteen killed in action.

Imperial Intelligence did not find evidence that any Tleilaxu reached the general population of Eirdanos, but with the open rebellion that had occured and the subsequent chaos it would be impossible to be certain.

House Corrino gains +3 to its military category pool.
House Corrino gains +4 to its domestic respect category pool.

House Aiantis Victory
The Aiantis diplomats wasted no time in making contact with the Eirdanos Governors in rebellion. With the arrival of House Eleusis and the Emperor's Sarduakar they were quick to open negotiations and lower their shields in exchange for assurances of retaining their wealth and positions, and that military forces of the Emperor or House Eleusis would not be moved into their cities in what could be seen as an invasion. Whilst the Governors do not completely trust House Aiantis as yet, they do see the new regime as a large step up from the disastrous Alexin family and that Aiantis rule over Eirdanos will be enforced by the Emperor and House Eleusis if cooperation is not forthcoming.

House Aiantis' diplomatic approach has made large headway as with the assurances of allowing the present nobility to stay in their current roles with their current lands if they swear allegience to their new masters. It is expected that further negotiations regarding specifc agreements pertaining to the administration of the fief, combined with the arrival of House Aiantis' House Guard now that the quarantine has been lifted, will result in the cities and colonies falling in line.

House Aiantis gains +4 to is diplomacy category pool.

Title: Operation Perseus
Type of RP: Conflict (Cross-faction)

Story:

General Marcus Depfirm, commander of the two Sardaukar legions assigned to this operation, paced the Imperial CP looking over the distance to the now secure Tleilaxu base. The reports he had been given had been disturbing - less then 200 of the gnomes had been in the base, and the outpost had not even been fully setup. An easy victory for the Sardaukar.

And yet the Alexin had informed the Emperor that the Tleilaxu were already established here - a lie perhaps to force the Emperor to assign the Sardaukar here? It wouldn't suprise Marcus, politics being what they were. He was sure his Emperor would assign a... worthwhile punishment to the Alexin should his thoughts be confirmed.

"General," A Sarduakar sergent approched and saluted crisply. "We've run three sweeps of the outpost and surrounding area. No Tleilaxu presence detected. Also the legion assigned to the capitol city has reported that no Tleilaxu have infiltrated the general population."

"Very well," Marcus said, crossing his arms. "Perform one more sweep of the area and then set the demolition charges on the base and the surrounding area. I want this place to me an inferno when we leave."

"At once, General."

A little extreme, but better safe then sorry. The Aiantis can deal with the aftermath.

"Comm-officer." He said sharply. "Get me the Aiantis military commander for this fief. Inform him I wish to discuss our withdrawl."

Summary:
  • Demolition charges are set on the Tleilaxu base and placed around the surrounding area (within 5 miles). These will be detonated three hours after placement.
  • The legion at the Tleilaxu base shall withdrawl to the starport.
  • The legion assigned to containing the capitol city shall maintain their current position.

Story:
Governor-General Paul Stukav stood waiting in full uniform, black with gold, in the conference room at the starport. The wide window looked out over the tarmac and troops of House Eleusis and the Sardaukar were concerning themselves with the orders from their superiors. Paul could only guess what those were.

The door was opened by an aide and the Sardaukar General stepped in. Paul started fidgeting with the collar of his sleeve. "General. Any news on the Tleilaxu operations?"

Summary:
  • Governor-General Stukav agrees to meet with the Sardaukar General

GM Ruling:
Approved. This can continue to be written as the players deem necessary.
The Sarduakar have successfully destroyed the Tleilaxu facility in a massive explosion that was felt fifty miles away. With the second of the Sarduakar legions redeployed to the starport, they begin making preperations to leave the planet in the coming months. To assist in security, an Aiantisian garrison has arrived to secure the Governor-General's residence and offices, but the recent actions of the Governor-General in assassinating one of the nobles has caused further political tension on the planet.

House Eleusis reports a marked increase in attacks by the roving gangs, but has noticed a shift in behaviour. Where once the gangs mostly concentrated on Alexin collaborators which have by now all left, they are now opening their violent attacks and graffiti to supporters of House Aiantis as well. The capitol city remains free from any violence, but with four legions of troops, including two of the Emperor's feared Sarduakar, it's little wonder. Warmaster Gleason of House Eleusis suggested in a meeting with the Sarduakar and Aiantis, that a solution needs to be found to the problem in the short-term otherwise the situation will come to a head the moment the legions depart.

Title: Operation Perseus

Story:

General Marcus sat within the Sardaukar CP reading over the reports and nodding slighty. His Sardaukar had performed well and had the capitol city in total lockdown preventing any of these riots or trouble causes to take root within the new Aiantis capitol city. Of course this could only last so long, His Majesty would not keep his Sardaukar here forever.

The outlaying towns were a different story. Most had begun to even forget the Alexin rulers and had turned their focus to the Aiantis. Properganda and slogan writing was now in full swing condeming their new rulers and calling for those willing to raise up. The General sighed, would no one in this universe settle without a fight? Would non simply thank their blessing that a Great House was taking over the rule of the planet and that their prospects were much better?

No. Of course not. That would be simple.

"Burseg," He called to the officer to his side. "Ready a battalion of men and locate one of the major cities causing these... problems."

He placed the documents on the desk in front of the officer. "Once you believe you have located a rebel alligned city, take the battalion and... show our displeasure at their activities."

Summary:
  • General Marcus Depfirm has assigned his next ranking officer to investigate the reports of increased rebel activity
  • A battalion, consisting of 1200 Sardaukar, are to be despatched once a likely rebel target has been loctated. They are to make an example of this /town by force.
  • Leaflets will then be sent to other towns and cities informing them the Emperor has promoted House Aiantis to take over the fief and has per the forms of the Empire, they are required to submit to their new rulers.
