Title:The Grand Survey
Type of RP:Internal/Consensual

Story:
Is it not a grand sight Ryko?

Ryko Varr, assistant to the new planetary governor looked out over the hordes of people assembling in the courtyards below. There were surveyors, gelogists, census takers, beauracrats of all types. He watched as they compared notes, gathered their equipment and then began to disperse.

"It is certainly impressive Sire. Do all Houses take this much care to catalog their new fiefs?"

"Oh, good heavens no," Stefano replied. "We however learned on original homeworld that one must be intimately acquainted with every aspect of your domain. To be less prepared then that would often be fatal. Ecaz was not a forgiving environment. Here though, in less hostile terrain, we find it useful to know everything we can."

Ryko turned his attention back to the vast number of people employed for this "grand survey". He had been told that they would take a full census of the planets population, to include recording important skills the people possesed. They would also search the land far and wide for mineral resources, plant or animal life that could be exploited, each and every aspect of Gangishree was to be examined and cataloged to determine how best exploit the worlds resources.

"What they discover will set the tone for this world for generations to come Ryko. My father and his economists, with some input from ourselves, will determine the most profitable and sustainable resources to build our worlds industry around. This time next year we might be in the midst of funding great factories or perhaps mining valuable metals. Personally I hope Gangishree proves more usefull as an agricultural world, but we will take what is available and build upon it."

Ryko could only nod. House Ecaz was nothing like the Guild who had managed the world as it was colonized. He never imagined that they would go to these lengths. All told, he was impressed and more then a little over awed. What in the world where they going to do once they found what they were looking for? House Ecaz it would seem, did nothing in a small way.

Summary:A grand survey of the planet Gangishree is being undertaken. We are trying to identify anything of value that we can build a planetary industry around, whether that be a special skill of the people, an abundant resource or fertile farmlands. All data gathered will be reviewed and a future economic plan will be built from it. Special note: Anything in particular you want to put into print about the planet please do it now. Anything not spelled out I'll assume that I have the freedom to take creative liberty with when I write up the planet for the wiki & role plays.

Title: The Grand Survey
Type of RP: Consensual (Internal Faction)

GM Rulings:

Approved. This can continue to be written if the players deem it necessary.
The "Grand Survey of Gangishree", as it is being called within the ranks of House Ecaz, is set to cost 115,000s (115s) by the time of its completion. So far reports are coming in from survey teams planet-wide which paint an informative picture.

Much like the relatively newly colonised worlds of the Ilm District, Gangishree is underdeveloped and requires considerable investment before it is likely to yield any contribution to the Imperium. The planet can be classified as RA35503. There are several continents, with similar geographical features: the planet has a high number of rivers, deltas and alluvial deposits and is therefore extremely fertile. Most land areas are less than 12m above sea level, suggesting long-term complications with flooding which is likely to be seasonal. Preliminary estimates, based on the terrain and early climatology assessments undertaken in consultation with the Guild suggest the planetary climate averages tropical conditions with mild winters and hot, humid summers with an extremely high likelihood of floods, tropical cyclones, tornadoes and tidal bores.

Title:The Grand Survey
Type of RP:Consensual (internal faction)

Story:Stefano reviewed the initial results of the survey with some fascination. It was much as he expected but only more so. Gangishree was a wet, stormy world but it was also possesed of great fertility. If managed correctly he was sure that it could become a major producer of food. Already the locals grew many crops suited to the environment; rice, bananas, sugar cane, bamboo sprouts, etc. With some investment though, he could see their efforts as being the building blocks of a major industry.

Naturally they would have to use the weather sattelites to regulate the stomrs to a degree. Not to stop them altogether of course, as that would undoubtedly have an advers effect on the worlds biological balance. They would though steer the worst of them away from cultivated areas. Then some dams for the rivers, levees, irrigation systems where needed....yes, it was all coming together in his head.

It would be a massive undertaking, but one he looked forward to. He was certain his father would be very pleased. First though, he would need to get the surveys final results. Before they invested that kind of money he would want every last bit of information he could get....

Summary:The 115s is donated the GC account. We are going to complete the survey and then begin planning for how to develop Gangishree.

PAID: 115s
Approved. This can continue to be written as the player deems it necessary.
The survey of Gangishree has been ramped up with the arrival of extra House Ecaz survey teams and it is expected that a thorough identification of the resources available on the planet will be completed in a further 2 months (1 turn) at which point House Ecaz will have a clear idea of the potential of the planet, and the best locations for various development programs to rapidly expand industry and population.

Title: The Grand Survey
Type of RP: Internal (Consensual)

Story: Stefano Ecaz watched as a room full of mentats, economists and scientists scoured sheet after sheet of raw data that was being filed from the field. The survey was complete and now would come the really hard work: turning all of that information into a workable economic plan. Preliminary results seemed to indicate that Gangishree could, with some effort, be turned into a vast producer of food. It was his hope that this early data should be proven correct.

Many of the same minds who had helped in the economic revitilization of Yorba, some his fathers own people, many others graciously loaned by the Emperor himself, had been assembled for this work. Their task was to analyze the information provided and develop a plan to maximize Gangishree's potential. He already expected that once the plan was in hand it would take a massive amount of labor and resources to put it into effect. House Ecaz had planned for that though and had most of the building blocks in place. All he needed now was the plan that these minds would generate.

Summary: House Ecaz will have the information from the survey analyzed and a plan developed to over haul the economy of Gangishree and make it a major producer of goods. Early results made me suspect that it would be suitable for food production but if the results indicate differently we will develop the plan around that. Please note that our planning team contains not only Ecazi personal but Imperial economists that the Throne has loaned to us earlier. Also, Count Merlyn has ultimate over sight of the project so hopefully we can get some bonus for his specialty in the process.

Approved. This may continue to be written as the player deems necessary.
With the survey of Ganshiree complete, Mentats are quickly able to assess the features of terrain and known weather patterns to determine the most likely locations for the venture of developing an Imperial Grade Foodstuffs industry on the planet. Identifying sixteen seperate plains where crops will have the highest chances of success in maturing, Count Merlyn begins initial discussions amongst agricultural experts and economic advisors on how best to proceed. The discussions yeild that the following broad plans will need to be enacted to create a sufficient foodstuffs industry.

The first stage will be the development of Transport Infrastructure - Vital to the initial construction of the vast plans for farms, roads, trains, shipping and other transport infrastructure will need to be produced, not least the construction of at least two Starports on the two main continents where the industry will be located. Transport Infrastructure will require 14 units of Raw Materials and 10 units of Industrial Components, with an investment of 112,000 solari (112s) to begin the six month (3 turn) construction project.

Title:The Grand Survey
Type of RP: Consensual (Internal)

Story: The grand survey was now giving way to the grand rebuilding project that Count Ecaz had initially envisioned. Now, as his father's agent on the ground Stefano Ecaz, as the acting Baronet, had the charge of fulfilling the great design. Watching from his keep in the capital he saw as various vessels settled in for a landing bearing the needed materials to get the project moving.

"I want this to remain on schedule," he told the foreman in charge of the labor crews, "or even ahead of that schedule. If we can move things along faster without sacrificing quality then let me know. I can allocate more manpower or food if that would help."

While the foreman discussed the exact needs for the project Stefano allowed a brief moment of satisfaction to settle over him. The families fortunes were turning for the better and he was pleased to be doing this one small part to further his fathers goals. So long as he could accomplish what was set before him here then he was sure he would have done his best for the family.

Summary: Stefano allocates the 112s for the proposed project and makes sure that the needed materials are delivered. He further offers to bring in slave labor and additional food for the workers if it could speed the building along without impairing the quality of the final product.
  • 1st item 112s donated to the Rulings GM
  • 2nd item 14 Raw materials & 10 industrial components are in my stockpiles for you to pull out & use.
  • 3rd item

Approved. This may continue to be written as the player deems necessary.
After the assignment of resources to the project, Mentats begin the complicated process of preparing the project to break ground with the fastest possible time. The original plans for construction would see the project completed in a further 6 months (3 turns), but with the offer of slave labour in the amount of 5 units, and if no regard is made for the wellbeing of the slave, it is estimated work could be completed within 4 months (2 turns); however a high quality of the work cannot be gauranteed under such circumstances but construction engineers believe it would be of adequate quality.
