Alexin in Massacre Scandal

Limenas population brutally subjugated

In a twist to the ongoing domestic strife on Eirdanos facing the newly invested Count Markov Alexin, news has reached the wider Imperium of the brutal massacre of civilians in one of Eirdanos's principle cities - Limenas.

All civilians aged 14-60 were rounded up and killed following a brief but bloody siege of the city which had recently joined dissidents in rejecting the authority of the Count Alexin. Limenas, though relatively small and strategically insignificant compared with Kratos and Kerameikos - the two cities leading the dissident movement - was chosen as an example to other townships which had been considering whether to maintain their loyalty to the Count's regime.

Alexin conscripts, reportedly acting under orders from Count Alexin himself, secured the city after overwhelming the poorly prepared and armed garrison which had defected along with the civilian population under the authority of the city governor.

The precise number of casualties is as yet unknown, and it is uncertain whether the civilian population even supported their governor's decision to rebel. Distraught children, and the elderly, who were spared during the massacre are now reported to be travelling en-masse to nearby settlements - a risky endeavour indeed with an angry and apparently brutal Count overseeing military matters at present.

When news of the massacre spread across Eirdanos, three additional townships were swung to the dissident cause: Halimus, Melite and Alopece all revoked their oaths of fealty to the Count Alexin. It seems that House Alexin's attempt to use Limenas as an example has dramatically backfired. Aristocrats with holdings in the regions surrounding Limenas have also reportedly lodged a formal protest with the Alexin family over the massacre of civilians, and more recently have threatened to request Imperial intervention if the Count is unable to bring the situation under control in a more effective manner.
