CHOAM Revision Forced Into Hold
Emperor’s announcement stalled by bureaucratic red-tape while CHOAM continues to decline.
Turn:
128 Jubilations were quickly dampened however, as it seems bureaucratic red-tape is now holding up the process once more. The Emperor made his announcement during the Landsraad’s General Plenary, resulting in widespread vocal support of the decision throughout the Imperial Court with many political analysts believing that as much as 90% of the Landsraad was behind the decision of His Majesty.
What is more extraordinary is that over 60% of CHOAM shareholders support the removal of inactive directors and the installation of newer, active and capable Houses. Both political and economic analysts agree that it is clear from these numbers describing support for the Emperor’s actions, that many in the Empire believe these changes are long overdue.
Following hot on the heels of his announcement, the Emperor was soon reminded by the Spacing Guild of enforced CHOAM by-laws for the election and removal of Board members – by-laws previously drafted and voted into effect by the bulk of directors that are now facing removal. Not willing to lose time or have the announcement left to abeyance, the Emperor and his staff moved quickly to form a resolution to legalise his recent announcement within CHOAM.
Sceptics point out that the requirement of the Board passing a resolution which would legalise just under half of their own number being removed, is bureaucracy gone mad and systemic of the failures of CHOAM’s leadership in the first place. The results of which is that faith has once more begun to slip for CHOAM’s shareholder as grievances that seemed imminently to be addressed by a fresh Board, are now returned to the debate table.
What the future holds for CHOAM is yet to be seen, though clearly by preventing the Emperor from acting directly, CHOAM's future once again looks bleak.
