Crisis in Negara

In a troubling turn of events the Negara Sysselraad still has not yet held their regularly scheduled elections for a chairman. This is most unusual and is, untill this instance, an unprecedented breakdown in leadership at the highest level. All other regions have managed to hold their elections and have finalized the results while the powers of Negara stand in limbo.

House Teranos, as the incumbent chair, was to have called for said elections. They have not done so, nor have they offered any explanation as to why they have failed to follow the proper protocol. In an unusual, though obviously necessary move, House Eleusis as the Speaker of the Landsraad appointed House Wikkheiser to a position of Chair Pro Tempore in order to facilitate the process. This also has failed to garner any results.

In a statement from the Speakers office, House Eleusis representatives were quoted as saying:

"The latency demonstrated by the Negara Sysselraad is of concern to the Landsraad. House Teranos failed to establish the foreseeable and routine elections despite prompting from the Office of the Speaker. When it became clear that House Teranos had withdrawn itself from political affairs outside of their own fiefs we appointed House Wikkheiser to a position of Chair Pro Tempore for the Negara Sysselraad. A move which seems to have caught House Wikkheiser off-guard and unprepared as the Office of the Speaker is still waiting for the election to be conducted."

As one might expect rumors are swirling regarding this historic breakdown in authority. Some rumor mongers point to collusion between the Teranos and the Wikkheiser as a possible culprit, but have yet to offer any gain they might hope to acheive by such defiance. Others believe that Teranos has merely gone into isolation and that Wikkheiser is overwhelmed by their new duties on Arrakis. Whatever the case, involvment by the Throne is sure to follow if the situation is not resolved post haste.
