End of a Technocracy

Bloodless Coup Ends Incompetent Government

Crest of House Eleusis
In a smoothly performed coup that is becoming a rare sight today, Alexander Eleusis took away the burdens of governance from his less than competent brother. The former Marquis is reportedly in good health and unharmed, having taken the place of heir in return for his cooperation. Already the change in management is visibly noticeable as the rebranding and disbandment of the old technocratic institutions takes place. Admittedly, the change is not as monumental as one would think it would be with Richese or Ix. No doubt due to the fact that House Eleusis was the butt of many-a-joke between the two powerful and innovative economies, for the Eleusians were technocrats in name only.

Naturally, fierce resistance to these surprising shifts in governance was expected from the Science Council, Eleusis' equivalent of a feudal body of nobles which is headed by scientists and various owners of the technocratic enterprises that did exist on Eridian. Instead, the Marquis moved quickly to ensure that those who could oppose him were given concessions and positions within the new government to ensure their support during the transition.

These changes are not the only ones being seen in House Eleusis' policy, it appears a more conciliatory and involved diplomatic corps is being implemented quickly. The newly reinvented House has now volunteered it's services in investigating the alleged breach of Dictum Familia by House Wikkheiser. Also of note is the recent military reforms designed to encompass most of the bondsmen and pyons of the fief, which has not been commented on by the Golden Lion Throne as yet. Unfamiliar Houses with armies that encompassed a large portion of the male populace were traditionally of some concern to the Emperor.

Despite this, all signs point to a more productive and active member of the Landsraad, to be welcomed by noble and Order alike as the possibility for profit or ally grows.
