Outbreak of Hostilities

Aiantis declares kanly on Alexin

Kanly: Aiantis-Alexin

In what is becoming an increasingly difficult time for House Alexin, the small house now has to contend with a Kanly against Great House Aiantis. The Aiantis representative delivered messages signed by Marquis Aiantis himself to the Landsraad, the Emperor and the Spacing Guild. As yet there has been no official response from House Alexin.

The cause of the hostilities cannot be readily determined, however, when asked for comment the Aiantis representative spoke of a "falling out" and bloodied noses in the two House's correspondence. Some experts suggest that the controversial record of House Aiantis on the treatment of pyons may have something to do with it, particularly after Alexin conscripts razed a township that had resisted capture.

The representative also cited the open hostility and ridicule coming from a lowly minor house as being a particularly bitter humiliation that House Aiantis could not endure. House Aiantis asserted that House Alexin would need to be put in their place, however the representative reassured correspondents that the efforts of the Eleusis and others to save the embattled minor house would not be in vain.

The Alexin are reportedly furious at the situation that has developed. They claim the Aiantis are using the kanly to distract the na-Count from the events unfolding on Eirdanos. The most extreme statement by the Alexian representative calls for the death of the Marquis. It is certainly a bold front for a minor house to adopt, especially one which has problems as severe as those of House Alexin's.

Lately there has been a lethargy in responding to House Alexin's problems and requests. While it is possible that House Alexin may find a champion - especially in the case of House Eleusis - as of right now there are too many Houses dabbling in internal affairs to get involved in a lengthy conflict with a well-established Great House. How the Emperor and the Landsraad will react depends entirely on how House Alexin responds.
