Royal Wedding
The upcoming wedding between our beloved Princess Irulan Corrino and Ilario Poritrini, the na-Doge of House Poritrin, recalls to mind similar plans from a few years ago. At that time, it was another Poritrin noble who was due to be wed to the Princess Josefa. This was announced in September of 10,184 to much fanfare and celebration. Who could have known at the time though the horror which awaited the Empire in the coming months?
Three short months later, rogue houses calling themselves the Council of Justice, raised their hands against our Emperor in an act having repercusions to this day. Houses Aiantis, Atreides, Maros and Mutelli attacked the royal palace in the early dawn hours killing many within. The ghoala wife of our Emperor as well as his daughter Chalice were among the casualties. Thanks to quick action by the Imperial Truthsayer the attackers were not able to complete their coup and the Emperors life was spared, though the attackers did take hostages in order to negotiate their way out of being slaughtered for their crimes.
The planned wedding of Josefa was cancelled in the aftermath of this attack and the Imperial House went into a period of semi isolation till they could regroup. Now it is Irulan's turn to be the bride, though recently the groom has gone missing. In a situation that bears a haunting resemblence to the earlier one, Ilario is nowhere to be found as both his own family and Imperial agents join the search. It is feared that he has somehow been drawn into the unpleasent situation existing between his family and that of the Candidar. If so, it is uncertain when or if he might ever be able to return.
Where this leaves Princess Irulan is also uncertain at the moment. The Royal Court has not seen fit to comment as yet, but if there is no groom there cannot be a wedding. Certainly, the thoughts of the Empire are with the couple and it is hoped that the young man can be returned alive and well. If he isn't it would certainly appear that House Poritrin is suffering under some curse in regards to forming a maritial relationship with House Corrino.
