Stand Off over Ecaz

News coming from the jungle world is both confusing and troubling. By Imperial decree House Poritrin has been ordered to surrender the planet to the former owners, the once Arch Dukes of Ecaz. These once disgraced cousines of the Corrino's have of late turned around their fortunes and seem to be on the road back to respectability and full co-operation in the interstellar community.

All is not well with the transfer though. In what can only be described as a reversal of recent relations the Ecazi and Poritrin now appear to be at odds. What has caused this sudden shift in allegiences? Could it be the transfer? Or is something deeper the root cause of it all and that which perhaps prompted His Majesty to order the transfer?

Recently Count Merlyn Ecaz issued a public proclamation to the people of his former home world to cease co-operating with the Poritrin squatters. The Doge has been less then prompt in ordering his people off world, leading many to wonder at the cause for the delay. Even more troubling are rumors that the Ecazi, in order to speed their departure, have been using their intelligence forces to harras Poritrin officials.

How successful these efforts might have been is not yet clear. What is known however is that the Poritrin still show no signs of leaving and that Marquis Ordos, as Judge of the Change, has officially had to step in to prevent the situation from deteriorating further. Matters are further complicated by Count Merlyn's presence at the Imperial festivities on Kaitan instead of at his new fief to over see the change in person.

Some might believe that the Ecazi Count is trying to avoid the Ordos officials but news from Kaitan indicate that both he and the Ordos party are being given positions of honor by the Throne for the festivities. Where the Doge is and his current plans remain as yet unknown. News from the court though would seem to indicate that the Emperor expects for him to obey the order to vacate planet Ecaz with all due haste.
