With the CHOAM Directors having been under intense fire for the last few months, politics seemingly reached boiling point with the General Plenary as Houses both Great and Minor expressed distress with the recent state of the economy and the failure of CHOAM to do anything to combat the growing issues.
Mentioning issues occurring as far back as spice shortages caused by the abrupt and catastrophic failure of House Ziyaira’s governorship of Arrakis, and more recent developments such as the stockpiling of munitions, the Imperial Throne outlined a pattern of economic troubles and downturn that required the use of His Highness’ supreme authority as Emperor to begin the process of rapid change and adaptation to return stability to the floundering Imperial economy.
Few were surprised with the appointment of the stable and wise House Leontis or the capable House Wikkheiser which took over the Governorship of Arrakis in the wake of Ziyaira’s failure on the pivotal world; however the appointment of Houses Eleusis and Ordos has taken some political analysts by surprise. While both are Great Houses which have taken great strides in shoring up the economic prosperity of their ventures and are taking a much more consistent role in Landsraad politics, both of their rulers are relatively recent additions to the annals of titular heads. Sources close to the Imperial House indicate that the Emperor wanted to combine the dependability and endurance of Leontis and Wikkheiser with the innovation and drive of Eleusis and Ordos.
With such drastic changes in the Board of Directors, many analysts are considering the Emperor’s decision to effectively create a clean slate for the CHOAM Corporation to move out of a state of crisis and reassert itself in its mission to provide security and prosperity to the Imperium’s economy.
