Houses Eleusis and Ordos
In what has been described by political analysts as an unexpected move, House Ordos and House Eleusis have signed what has become known as the Treaty of Olionis Prime. The treaty was unforeseen by political analysts due to the recent diplomatic blunders by House Eleusis’ former ruler, the now Count Martin Eleusis, when he ordered the invasion of the Ordos fief of Essen within the Ilm Region. The invasion was announced as a humanitarian effort and was quickly rebuffed by the Landsraad, bringing Houses Ordos and Eleusis to the brink of war and ultimately resulting in the resignation of Martin Eleusis as the Lord Prefect.

It is apparent in the wake of the near disaster, the new head of House Eleusis, Marquis Alexander Eleusis moved quickly to repair the damage between the Eleusinians and the Ordos, but none expected that not only would the damage between the two Great Houses would be repaired, but that the two rulers would bridge the divide and find common ground with which to move forward with the powerful trade treaty now signed by Marquesses Alexander Eleusis and Stefano Ordos.

The treaty, which outlines a favorable and common set of goals for the two Houses establishes a framework in which both Houses may maintain strong trade relations by eliminating export and import tariffs between their respective worlds whilst concurrently enforcing non-compete responsibilities for certain CHOAM Charters. While the move has caught the Imperial Court by surprise, economic analysts have viewed the move as a strong coupling that is not without risk.

The ordinarily protectionist economies and mercantile societies of the two Houses will need to be managed carefully if the trade treaty is to provide the desired prosperity for both Houses. Signing the treaty on Olionis Prime, Marquis Stefano Ordos addressed the assembled witnesses, expressing his hopes for the newfound commonality between the cousines.

“Be coming together on this day under a banner of peace and mutual prosperity we do not simply set the Ordos and Eleusis peoples down a better path, we also set an example to an Imperium deeply scarred by war.”

With a treaty now in place, and the reported sightings of the two rulers on friendly terms during the kanly duel between Houses Alexin and Aiantis, many analysts are unsure of the exact nature of relations between the Eleusis and Ordos other than that it is apparent that both are drawing into closer political relations having at this stage strong economic ties and a non-aggression agreement. The Imperial Court will be watching the two Houses with earnest in the coming years with suspicion of a powerful alliance at work below the surface.
