Wikkheiser Economic Victory

Despite numerous obstacles House Wikkheiser has ended the long spice drought which has gripped the great houses of the empire. Earlier today some 40 lida of spice was delivered to the markets of Choam. This was natually greeted with relief from many quarters but it is still tempered with great misgivings from others.

After the long absence of spice from our markets there have been great hardships on many planets. Some populations have faced withdrawl symptoms due to the severe shortage. After the long and succesfull governorship of the Ziyaira no one expected the sudden and prolnged drought of melange. Most houses were caught unawares and had to rely on rapidly dwindling reserves.

It is a hopeful sign that the Wikkheiser have at last brought some spice to market. What is also plain though is that it is not yet nearly enough. After the extreme shortages ,and the hardships that it caused, the small amount offered has just as quickly been exhausted. The buyers who were watching for the first trickle of the precious spice to reach Choam have just as quickly bought it all up. For those who were less attentive ,or who didn't have the reserves of solari needed , there is still only shortage and want.

While we are sure that all loyal houses pray for continued success of the Wikkheiser governorship, we must still be mindful of the obstacles that they face. Arrakis is not a kind world. Recent reports indicate that the new governor has faced hardships due to the effects of the hostile environment on their equipment and the ever present raids of the native population. All of this in addition to manpower and equipment lost to the fearsome sand worms means that future success is by no means a gurantee.
